DM participant wins a lunch with Pratt’s newly inaugurated President Francis Bronet
The evening began with time for President Bronet to mingle with the many students, staff, and faculty in attendance, enabling her to spend generous amounts of time inquiring about and listening to their voices, experiences and aspirations. The attendees then moved into the Campus Gallery. There we got to view an exhibition of the American poet John Ashberry’s work spanning seven decades.
A fitting backdrop to the toasts, and inspirational insights shared by faculty for the incoming President who followed with her remarks on her joy, enthusiasm for and commitment to the role she has stepped into.

Our Catalyst team and our program Chair were inspired! Dr. Mary McBride opened the series of toasts with her spontaneous and thoughtfully select words. (Shared below) The toasts wrapped up with the drawing of the raffle winners who will have lunch with the new President. By the way, she will not, and apparently cannot cook!
The third and final name called was our current participant Nick Barnette, Design Management ’19 randomly selected. Wow! One of our participants gets a seat at the table with Pratt’s new leadership!
Nick, a toast to you!
Our toast to our new and inspiring President is below
Pratt went looking for a leader.
We developed criteria in the Senate and at chair and faculty meetings.
We wanted technical expertise, experience, someone who “gets what we do”
Check, check, check—we got all that!
We found a leader with all our many requirements.
But we also got lucky, maybe even blessed
We got Francis!
Francis, who likes to be called just that
Who is approachable, accessible interested.
Francis, who is already leading us in conversations of consequence, and gently And firmly reminding us that
WE, all of us “can do it.”
We can re-imagine education.
We can lead.
And, we can design futures together.
For Pratt, our community and our world.
